SOMEWHAT INSPIRED BY THE 49ers — Fox Family productions is considering a new home base outside The City for the annual San Francisco Comedy Competition.
“It’s a difficult decision to make but circumstances change after nearly 50 years,” advises Executive Producer Jon Fox, “Right now, we’re measuring community support for a larger comedy presence in Marin County.”
The Foxes have increased their schedule of Best of the Comedy Competition shows featuring past alumni from the event at the Marin Showcase Theater to a happening every other month. Chris Riggins will come off touring with Dave Chappelle to headline there on Feb. 17, followed by Tom Rhodes on April 6.
Meanwhile, Shane Fox is working to establish a Comedy Competition “Scene” at Emma’s in San Rafael were he can conduct live auditions and network with an inner circle of acts he wants to promote. Things kick off at Emma’s on Friday, March 1, when Johnny Steele, a past Comedy Competition winner, will host. Tickets available at Ticketweb.com.
