WHERE ARE THEY NOW — past San Francisco Comedy Competition finalist Sammy Obeid debuts Friday, March 13, on Netflix as the host of “100 Humans” wherein he will do experiments on a group of 100 participants over the course of a week. Meanwhile, his stand-up has never been stronger, having had to be dragged off the stage after a 75-minute Tour de Force at Folktale Winery in Carmel last Friday and scheduled to close another Best of the San Francisco Comedy Competition gig at Black Oak Casino on March 5, 2020.

Sammy Obeid is a Lebanese-American born in Oakland, California, who double majored in Business and Mathematics at UC Berkeley and then turned down a job at Google to become a comedian. He’s best known for setting a world record for performing stand up comedy 1,001 consecutive nights, and was featured in The New York Times and Time Magazine.  In the last few years, Sammy has performed at over 200 colleges across the US, and was voted “Fastest Rising Star” by Campus Magazine.  He also tours internationally, including trips to the Middle East and Russia.  In 2016, Sammy was asked to headline Moscow’s first ever comedy festival, making him the first American comedian to be invited to headline in Russia. He’s also made TV appearances on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, America’s Got Talent, TBS’s Conan, and was the first comedian to ever perform stand up on the Food Network.
