Winners of San Francisco Stand-Up Comedy Competition

There’s no better time for a comedy show than right after Thanksgiving, when family and friends are still around and top performers are home for the holidays. Headlining this four-act laugh-o-rama will be 2023 champion Gary Michael Anderson, who’ll be returning from Hollywood. Other comedians include Dan Aguinaga, K Cheng, and Natalie Diaz.

Gary, acclaimed for his charming and introspective humor, has captivated audiences far and wide. Crowned winner of the 2023 San Francisco International Comedy Competition, Gary’s comedic path began on college night at a local comedy club. Drawn by the lure of student discounts, the club became a tradition for him and his teammates. While the headliners dazzled, it was the openers who caught his attention. Their raw, unpolished performances made Gary think, ‘I can do this, and maybe even better.’ What he initially mistook for professional acts were, in fact, open micers. This discovery didn’t discourage Gary; it motivated him. The first time he took to the stage, he experienced an adrenaline rush reminiscent of his football days.

After honing his skills in San Francisco’s renowned comedy scene, Gary now resides in Los Angeles, fueled by a passionate goal: to have someone else write his bio in third person, rather than writing it himself, in third person.
