We Returned to Grass Valley and they Showed Up in Force!
We used to pack the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley until a few years ago, when they closed for an extensive remodel. Finally, the crowds have returned, and they were ready to laugh. After the last few days, it’s not hard to imagine why. Just like at Montalvo, they stayed engaged to the end and didn’t mind a little ribbing from the comics.
The Top Five

With three first-place finishes in a row, Shawn Felipe is a lock on moving into the Finals. Right on his heels is Jalisa Robinson, who had the tough opening slot for this show. The other three spots are up for grabs.
The acts remain loose, with several of them reworking their routines, which is unusual at this stage of the “race”.
Special thanks to past finalist Ngaio Bealum, who lives in Sacramento, for coming to judge and perform the “stall set” while scores were being added up. His heavy emphasis on material about marijuana was well received.
