Best of the Comedy Competition

The legendary San Francisco Stand-up Comedy Competition returns to El Campanil Theatre in Antioch on Saturday, January 15, 2022 with 2017 champ Ellis Rodriguez and 2019 winner Sterling Scott hosted by another top dog (and Pittsburg native) Johnny Steele plus special guest Gina Stahl-Haven.

Sterling Scott

STERLING SCOTT is a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene and a crowd favourite. His most recent accomplishments on and off the stage include, being signed by Kevin Hart and the LOL network to a development deal, Winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, a performance on Crave’s Stellar Stand ups, a track on the Just for Laughs 2018 premium album, multiple national televised performances on CBC and CTV as well as two comedy albums, and a podcast entitled “the comedy reject” which are available on all streaming platforms.

Ellis Rodriguez

Ellis Rodriguez is a stand-up comedian from Northern California who is known to be ‘hella funny’ and one of the the best Stand Ups on the scene.

A U.S. Marine with a classic case of middle kid syndrome, he’s the funniest of nine children raised by parents from Panama. It’s complicated. But Ellis uses the diversity of his life to establish rapport with anyone. His energy and charisma have made him a regular headliner at The Improv, Laugh’s Unlimited, and Tommy T’s to name a few.

If you’ve missed Ellis Rodriguez, you’re missing out. Lucky for you, he’s literally just getting started. Most recently Ellis was featured on Kevin Hart’s Comedy Central show ‘Hart of The City’. Winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and the San Diego Comedy Festival.

Gina Stahl-Haven

Gina Stahl-Haven is one of the fastest rising comics in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been performing in the comedy and improv world for over 15 years and is the 2nd Place Winner of the 2019 San Francisco Comedy Competition (the first woman in 34 years and the only woman other than Ellen Degeneres to hold this title).

Gina has been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival, the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Un-Scripted Theatre Company, SF Improv Festival, Hawaii Improv Festival, on the Andrea Savage podcast, and headlining at comedy clubs throughout the country. Frequently recognized for her captivating story-telling, Gina’s real take on life, motherhood, dating, and navigating Costco; combined with her intoxicating stage presence make her irresistible to watch.

Host: Johnny Steele

Comedian, talk show host and rabble-rouser Johnny Steele lights up the stage at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center at 8 p.m. July 27.

He’s a Pittsburg native who began performing in 1984. Steele is a former winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and former host of the morning radio show on Live 105 and daily TV talk show host on KRON/Bay TV.

Steele can currently be seen in the comedy documentary “3 Still Standing” on Amazon Video. He has headlined across the country and written for some of America’s best comics, including the late Robin Williams.
