San Francisco Comedy Competition
August 30 – September 22, 2024
2024 Finalists
It Was a Good Start at Rossmoor
Some of the comics joked at the Orinda Theatre that the crowd was full of grandparents. I mentioned that just up the street is Rossmoor, where this crowds parents live. Although it has a reputation of being an older crowd, the minimum age for residents is 55, they are very sharp, understand good humor and the venue is really fantastic.
Moving on to the Finals
Like any elimination event, the San Francisco Comedy Competition has one difficult issue, we start with 32 really great comedians, but each week we have to eliminate really funny comics and move on with the top five.
The Big Show at the Luther Burbank Center
The biggest show on the tour is at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa. It’s a fantastic crowd that witnessed a really great comedy show.
Mixing it up in Vacaville
The results are in from our stop at the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre. we had a great time with special guest host and local resident, Ellis Rodriguez.
Head for the Hills!
The show moved up in the world, at least in elevation, to Grass Valley for a stop at the Center for the Arts.
Montalvo Part Two
It’s the second night of the Semifinals at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga and we’ve had eight out of a field of ten make the Top Five.
Night One Outdrew the Debates!
The first night for the Semifinals of the 2024 San Francisco Comedy Competition and it’s selling better than the next show tomorrow night. I guess America is ready to go out and laugh.
Announcing the 2024 Semifinals
The 2024 San Francisci Comedy Competition has selected its Semifinalists. The Top Five comics from Round One and Round Two of Preliminaries compete for just five spots to advance to the Finals
Week Two: Moving on to the Semifinals
This contest is tough. It’s not only the oldest comedy competitions in the US, it attracts a lot of really great comics. I am seeing great comedians and wondering how do they break out so the world can join in on the fun. And then I remember it’s through events like the San Francisco Comedy Competition.
Carmel Comedy Roundup from Folktale
Who would believe you could have a really great comedy show in a winery in Carmel, it’s not a old wives tale, it’s a Folktale and when the wine flows, a story usually follows.

Bankhead Theater: Livermore
Clark Center: Arroyo Grande

What is the San Francisco Comedy Competition?
Now in it’s 48th year, the San Francisco Comedy Competition is an annual, multi-week, judged, stand-up comedy contest. Over thirty comedians, out of hundreds who apply, perform in shows held in comedy clubs, bars, restaurants, casinos and theaters in San Francisco and around the Bay Area.
Best of the Comedy Competition
In addition, we feature Best of the Competition shows throughout the year to give audiences a chance to experience longer sets with comedians we felt deserve more stage time.
