I left my score in Livermore

Shawn Felipe made it four top scores in a row at the Bankhead Theatre. In fact, he finished so far in front that all the other nine competitors had their Livermore scores dropped from their results for the semi-finals.

This highlights an aspect of the Competition’s arcane scoring system wherein low scores are dropped from the calculations of who will advance each round. That aside, the show was extremely well received by an appreciative audience. It’s fascinating to watch each performer tighten up their routine as they move thru a schedule that includes one impressive theater after another, starting with Montalvo Arts Center near Saratoga to the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, the Bankhead and then the really big one — the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa where the finalists are announced after a show these rising stars will count for years as perhaps their most memorable.
